Knight School |
Knight School courses provide an excellent opportunity for parents and children to learn about and participate in knightly pursuits of the Middle Ages in a fun and active way.
Participants will be trained in the art of combat by our experienced instructors using safe, rubberised weapons and shields, and leather helmets and you will be thrilled by our own knights engaging in battle with each other using real weapons and armour in a traditional knightly combat display.
The day will include tuition, group combats, tournaments and games and all the while you will be learning about the age old ideals of the knightly virtues: Courage, Humility, Perception, Prowess and Leadership.
The Knight School program is hosted by Living History Australia (LHA), which has been operating in schools for over ten years. LHA is accredited by Education Queensland for its school programs and performs for 1000s of students every year. Our instructors are highly experienced and professional historians, re-enactors and medieval martial artists dedicated to bringing history to life in an entertaining and informative way for students.
Knight School participants will engage in full-speed, full-contact team battles using rubberised swords and shields and other protective equipment as well as experiencing demonstrations of combat with real weapons and armour by Knight School instructors. There will also be a Artifact Interaction session where participants are given the opportunity to handle (carefully) some of these real implements of medieval warfare. As you are trained in the art of knightly combat our instructors will describe the squires path through to knighthood and regale you with stories and interesting facts about the life of a Medieval Knight
Due to the success of our Master Classes and our Knight School Camp we are happy to let you know that we will be continuing them as a part of our regular program.
Location: All Knight School Introductory and Master classes are held at the Old Queensland Museum - Cnr Gregory Tce & Bowen Bridge Rd, Bowen Hills
Knight School Camp is held Allawah Scout Camp, Allawah Rd, Mt Crosby
Ages: Knight School classes are suitable for children aged 8yrs to 16yrs, howe'ver parents may also participate.
Limited Numbers :Numbers are limited so book early to avoid disappointment
Times: Classes begin at 9am and finish at 5pm.
Food: For all Introductory and Master Knight School classes light refreshment of fruit and cordial will be supplied for morning and afternoon tea howe'ver, participants must bring their own lunch and a water bottle is recommended.
What to wear: T-shirts and shorts or long pants are acceptable and closed in shoes with good grip are essential. Children without proper footwear will not be permitted to participate.
