Australian History

1824 - Cadbury Introduced

Cadbury was founded in 1824 when John Cadbury opened a grocer's shop at 93 Bull Street, Birmingham, England. Among other things, he sold cocoa and drinking chocolate, which he prepared himself using a pestle and mortar.

1922 - CADBURY-FRY AND PASCALL

The very first Cadbury Factory in Australia is opened in Claremont, Tasmania. The location was chosen for its proximity to Hobart and plentiful supply of high quality fresh milk.

1930 - FREDDO THE FROG IS BORN

Had an employee not suggested that a chocolate frog might be a more likeable character than a mouse, Freddo the Frog wouldn't have been created. Today the bite-sized chocolate frog is one of Cadbury Australia's best-selling products, with 90 million Freddos eaten in Australia every year.

1961 - CADBURY ACQUIRED MACROBERTSON'S CHOCOLATE

A well-respected confectionery manufacturer founded in 1880. The move gave Cadbury another major manufacturing base at Ringwood in Victoria.

2019 - CADBURY DAIRY MILK 3D PRINTER!

Launched in Melbourne, consumers were able to choose intricate shapes like letters, snowflakes or even Australiana icons and see them printed in front of their eyes!

2020 - Cadbury Werribee Easter Egg Hunt

2020 marked the 20th Anniversary of the beloved Cadbury Werribee Easter Egg Hunt, Australia's largest Easter Egg Hunt that raises much needed funds for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

2022 - CADBURY CELEBRATES 100 YEARS

We're celebrating a century of making Cadbury in Australia and bringing people together. Using locally sourced milk from our dairy farmers, we started making chocolate in Claremont, Tasmania 100 years ago, and we're proud to see how far Australia has come.
